Ilse Crawford is a British designer, teacher and creative director, and the founder of the London-based practice Studioilse. Her work spans interiors, furniture, objects, brand strategy and design education, yet remains grounded in one clear principle: design should address genuine human needs and help people live with greater comfort and dignity.

Rather than treating design primarily as a visual style, Crawford considers how a space is experienced by the body. Light, sound, touch, temperature, material and interpersonal distance all influence whether an environment feels reassuring and easy to inhabit. Her work builds atmosphere through proportion, materiality, use and carefully considered relationships between people and place.

This thinking is clearly expressed at Ett Hem in Stockholm. The conversion of an Arts and Crafts building into a twelve-room guesthouse softens the conventional division between the public and operational areas of a hotel. Flexible spaces, natural materials and a domestic scale allow hospitality to feel integrated into daily life.

在国泰航空贵宾室项目中，Studioilse 将同样的方法应用于高流量的机场环境。舒适、私密、自然材料、清晰动线与周到服务取代了机构化氛围。设计目标不是以装饰表现奢华，而是减轻旅行带来的身体疲惫与情绪压力。

For Cathay Pacific's airport lounges, Studioilse applied the same principles to demanding, high-traffic environments. Comfort, privacy, natural materials, clear circulation and thoughtful service replaced institutional formality. The aim was not luxury as decoration, but an environment capable of reducing the physical and emotional strain of travel.

从室内延伸到产品与公共价值Beyond Interiors

Crawford 的实践也延伸到家具与产品设计。她与 IKEA 合作的 Sinnerlig 系列包含三十件家具、灯具和餐桌用品，使用软木、陶瓷、玻璃、海草和竹材等富有触感的材料，探索自然材料、实用形式与大众可负担性之间的关系。

Crawford's practice also extends into furniture and product design. The thirty-piece Sinnerlig collection for IKEA brought together furniture, lighting and tabletop objects made with tactile materials including cork, ceramic, glass, seagrass and bamboo, connecting natural materials and useful forms with accessible everyday design.

在伦敦 Refettorio Felix 项目中，Studioilse 将社区礼堂改造成厨房、餐厅和日间服务空间，为处于社会弱势处境的人群提供餐食与支持。温暖而实用的室内环境，让款待成为传递尊严、归属感与关怀的方式。

At Refettorio Felix in London, Studioilse transformed a community hall into a kitchen, dining room and support centre serving people in socially vulnerable circumstances. A warm and functional interior helped hospitality communicate dignity, belonging and care.

教育与持续影响Education and Lasting Influence

Crawford 还在埃因霍温设计学院创立"人与福祉"专业方向，并担任负责人二十年。她的教学延续了对感官体验、伦理与社会责任的关注，鼓励设计师把自己的工作放在更广泛的人类与环境系统中理解。

Crawford also founded the Man and Wellbeing department at Design Academy Eindhoven and led it for two decades. Her teaching extended her concern with sensory experience, ethics and social responsibility, encouraging designers to understand their work as part of larger human and environmental systems.
