Paris-based designer Clément Pasquier turns industrial glass blocks—normally used to bring daylight through walls—into a vertical object illuminated from within. ![Henry Lamp glowing in a dark industrial interior](https://cdn.01des.com/uploads/2026/08/20260814-090218-QGaNtZ6E.webp!dis) Henry Lamp, illuminated view. Henry Lamp retains that architectural memory while reversing the direction of light: illumination now radiates outward from inside the blocks. ![Full view of Henry Lamp against a grey background](https://cdn.01des.com/uploads/2026/08/20260814-090220-86Tj2mvz.webp!dis) Full object view. ![Detail of the glass blocks and metal frame](https://cdn.01des.com/uploads/2026/08/20260814-090223-f2k4UGBO.webp!dis) Glass and metal detail. ## 02 · Optical Depth Inside the Glass Each block is formed from pressed glass shells fused at high temperature. Its internal cavity, moulded texture and material thickness redirect the light together, producing a luminous field that changes as the viewer moves around the lamp. ![Front view of the modular glass-block construction](https://cdn.01des.com/uploads/2026/08/20260814-090225-G2J85DlS.webp!dis) Modular front elevation. ![Henry Lamp illuminated against a deep red background](https://cdn.01des.com/uploads/2026/08/20260814-090227-glDx9Z7g.webp!dis) Warm light against a deep red field. > The architectural component no longer carries light—it becomes the light. ## 03 · Visible Traces of Production The lamp uses industrial glass blocks reissued by the French glassmaker La Rochère rather than imitating their appearance. A faint green tint, mould seams and subtle variations remain visible, allowing the manufacturing process to become part of the design. ![Henry Lamp placed in a large raw industrial space](https://cdn.01des.com/uploads/2026/08/20260814-090228-4U4SQMNZ.webp!dis) The lamp as a luminous architectural element within a raw interior. ## 04 · Between Lamp and Architecture Switched off, the object resembles a freestanding fragment of glass-block wall. Illuminated, its warm glow softens the visual weight of glass and metal. It works as functional lighting and as a luminous element capable of defining space. ![Sculptural form of Henry Lamp when switched off](https://cdn.01des.com/uploads/2026/08/20260814-090231-LnLBaYKG.webp!dis) Sculptural presence when switched off. ![Detail of the metal base, cable and lower glass block](https://cdn.01des.com/uploads/2026/08/20260814-090233-zt7nngcd.webp!dis) Base, cable and lower glass-block detail. ## 05 · A Modernist Material Reconsidered Henry Lamp recalls modernist interiors such as Maison de Verre without simply reducing a façade to furniture scale. It rethinks the relationship between material and light source, combining architectural presence, industrial character and domestic atmosphere. ![Glass texture and illuminated states of Henry Lamp](https://cdn.01des.com/uploads/2026/08/20260814-090236-HYxBwiZf.webp!dis) Glass texture and illuminated states. **Project credits** Design — Clément Pasquier Studio Photography — Luc Borho Original feature — Leibal **Categories:** Commercial ---
